Setting up a plan of action and potential timeline
"Chaordic" balance between chaos and order.
Between now and June what needs to happen? Beyond that?
How do we do this?
Linguafolio?
Need more training on understanding language proficiency levels.
This is a LONG TERM project. We can demonstrate these models within the district so that other content areas can follow the WL lead.
Our kids are not "just" taking language. We need to take them as far as we can.
A PLN will help to challenge us on a daily basis to keep our thinking moving forward. (see Tom's page daily :-). )
How do we get our kids OUT OF THE BOX? Even if the adults "stay in the box"
WE have to reach out to the other content areas. We cannot be loners or singletons. How can WLT's be heard?
EVERY kid needs to come out of LSDO PLURILINGUAL...regardless of the time/schedule/FTE....
We HAVE to connect with each other and continue to be challenged.
EX: Kids need to be able to have access to Latin if they are taking a Romance Language so they can make connections. Maybe those kids need to layer on Latin.
Its destructive to have "turf wars" between languages. Carving out "time" will kill it.
We have to take advantage of every possible moment to cause learning to occur.
We will know we have succeeded in this district when we have kids who have reached a proficiency level that can be credentialed in a language in more than one language.
At what point do we no longer do things "by invitation" and move forward with the initiative?
We cannot move things forward too fast because there are so many factors and while some are ready, others are not.
Who are potential teachers we could recruit to be part of the first WAVE of change? Who is ready but doesn't know it yet?
Caution: as we listen to other districts, be careful because what other districts are doing is not the same.
See about applying for more space on wiki because its educational.
Developing trust with students is a prelude to creating autonomous learners.
